Veganism and Weight Loss

A vegan diet is based on grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables. Vegans don’t eat meat (including  seafood), eggs, milk and dairy products.

Most vegans also avoid all products that have been tested on animals, even wearing shoes and clothing from animal skin, fur or feathers.

Benefits of Veganism

There are many benefits in a diet that is completely based on plants. People are more aware of it every day. Such example is former US President Bill Clinton, who started to follow this plan because of health reasons.

Another positive effect and an interesting fact was that he lost 11 kilograms. Public personalities, famous sports stars and many other people are aware of the great benefits that veganism brings into their life.

Does a Vegan diet lead to weight loss?

People become vegans for numerous reasons. Some because they believe that animals shouldn’t be exploited and killed for consumption. Others are concerned about the environment or their health.

Weight loss is just one of the reasons why people choose this lifestyle. However, if you want to lose some weight, you need to think about the types of food you eat as a vegan.

As we said before, vegans still enjoy pizzas, burgers, and stuff like that, but that won’t make you lose any weight. In order to re-shape your body, you need to choose fresh and unprocessed foods.

However, as a vegan, you’re more likely to have a diet that is richer in nutrients than the omnivores. By avoiding animal products, you are avoiding cholesterol. It immediately means that your saturated fat level is lower. And that is the first step in your weight loss journey.

Plants are very rich in nutrients in general. This means that you will get all the nutrients but with fewer calories. Fewer calories, on the other hand, mean less weight.

As simple as that!
